Recently, I have started learning about networking and BGP. With obtaining my own ASN late July 2022, I have also been able to learn more about it through my work at BerryByte Limited, where I have been able to work with networking vendors Arista and Juniper. You can view my progress below.
Obtaining my own ASN28 Jul 2022I was able to obtain my own ASN, AS203635, via a sponsoring LIR. Show up in the global routing table29 Jul 2022Using BIRD 2. I was able to have my prefix 2a06:a005:14d0::/44 show up in the global routing table via a free tunnelbroker service Route48.org AS44570 (unfortunately, the service used has since been discontinued).
Configure my first downstream19 Aug 2022Using BIRD 2, I was able to configure my first downstream, AS203867.
Obtaining my permanent IPv6 allocation12 Dec 2022I was able to obtain 2a0a:6040::/40 as my permanent IPv6 allocation from my sponsoring LIR.
Configuring my own RPKI server and publication point14 Dec 2022Using Krill, I was able to configure my own RPKI server and publication point and have prefixes from my sponsoring LIR delegated to it.
Obtaining another ASN to test downstreaming internally27 Dec 2022I was able to obtain another ASN, AS50224, to test downstreaming in my own internal network. Connected to the ONIX Internet Exchange3 Jan 2023I was able to connect to the ONIX Internet Exchange, and peer with other networks.
Obtained Transit from Hurricane Electric AS693918 Jan 2023I was able to obtain transit from a Tier 1 Network Hurricane Electric via the ONIX Internet Exchange.
Obtaining my ASN under my company30 Mar 2023I was able to obtain my ASN, AS48581, under my company, MythicalKitten LLC. Connected to the FREMIX Internet Exchange26 Apr 2023I was able to connect to the FREMIX Internet Exchange, and peer with other networks.
Obtain my first IPv4 allocation?? ??? ????
